AJ Long Electric · Virginia Class A Contractor License No. 2705 048183 · Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE]
1. The Program
AJ Long Electric ("AJ Long Electric," "we," "us," or "our") offers the AJ Long Membership, an annual electrical maintenance and member-benefits program available in three tiers: Essentials, Complete, and Priority (each, a "Membership"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern every Membership. By enrolling in a Membership, whether as part of a project proposal, online, by phone, or in person, you ("Member," "you," or "your") agree to these Terms. The benefits summary provided at enrollment is part of these Terms.
2. What the Membership Is, and What It Is Not
The Membership is a maintenance, inspection, and discount program.
THE MEMBERSHIP IS NOT INSURANCE, IS NOT A HOME WARRANTY, IS NOT AN EXTENDED SERVICE CONTRACT, AND IS NOT A GUARANTEE OF THE CONDITION OR PERFORMANCE OF YOUR HOME'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. EXCEPT FOR THE WORKMANSHIP WARRANTY IN SECTION 8, WHICH APPLIES ONLY TO WORK WE PERFORM, THE MEMBERSHIP DOES NOT COVER, PAY FOR, OR REIMBURSE THE COST OF ANY REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT.
3. Tiers and Benefits
Each Membership includes the benefits for its tier, summarized below and described in the benefits summary provided at enrollment. Additional subpanels beyond the one included in a Complete or Priority visit may be inspected at our then-current per-panel charge.
| Benefit | Essentials | Complete | Priority |

4. The Annual Visit
(a) One visit per year. Each Membership includes one annual visit per Membership year at the enrolled service address, performed during our normal business hours.
(b) Scheduling and access. We will contact you to schedule the visit. You must provide safe access to the areas to be inspected. If we are unable to complete the visit during a Membership year because you did not respond to at least two scheduling attempts or did not provide access, the visit is forfeited for that year and no credit or refund is owed.
(c) No rollover. Annual visits do not roll over from year to year, have no cash value, and may not be transferred to another person or address.
(d) Scope. The visit is a visual and diagnostic inspection of readily accessible components of the electrical system. We remove the electrical panel cover (dead front) but do not dismantle equipment, open walls, ceilings, floors, or finishes, or move furniture, appliances, or stored items. Concealed, inaccessible, or latent conditions are outside the scope of the visit.
(e) Not a certification. The visit is not a municipal, code-compliance, or insurance inspection, is not a home inspection under any state home-inspector licensing law, and is not a certification or warranty of any kind. Findings reflect only the condition of accessible components observed on the day of the visit. Electrical components can fail without warning, and no inspection can ensure that failures, faults, or fires will not occur.
(f) Repairs not included. The visit does not include repairs or replacement of any component. Recommended work will be quoted separately, and member savings under Section 5 will apply to that work.
5. Member Savings and Fee Waiver
(a) Discount. While your Membership is active, you receive 10% off AJ Long Electric labor and standard materials on work performed at the enrolled service address, up to the per-job cap for your tier: $250 (Essentials), $500 (Complete), or $750 (Priority).
(b) Exclusions and mechanics. The discount does not apply to permit fees, utility fees, third-party charges, or work performed by subcontractors. It is applied at invoicing, has no cash value, is not retroactive to work invoiced before enrollment, and may not be combined with any other discount, coupon, or promotion unless we state otherwise in writing. "Per job" means a single proposal or invoice; work may not be divided into multiple invoices to apply the cap more than once.
(c) Estimate fee waiver. Our standard $99 on-site estimate fee is waived for visits scheduled while your Membership is active.
6. Fees, Automatic Renewal, and Payment
(a) First year. The first-year Membership fee is due at enrollment and may be included in the total of a project proposal.
(b) AUTOMATIC RENEWAL. YOUR MEMBERSHIP RENEWS AUTOMATICALLY FOR SUCCESSIVE ONE-YEAR TERMS. THE PAYMENT CARD ON FILE WILL BE CHARGED THE THEN-CURRENT ANNUAL RATE ON OR ABOUT EACH RENEWAL DATE. WE WILL SEND YOU WRITTEN NOTICE (EMAIL IS SUFFICIENT) AT LEAST 30 DAYS BEFORE EACH RENEWAL, STATING THE RENEWAL RATE AND HOW TO CANCEL. YOU MAY CANCEL AT ANY TIME BEFORE THE RENEWAL DATE TO AVOID THE CHARGE, USING ANY METHOD IN SECTION 7(a).
(c) Rate changes. We may change Membership rates effective only at renewal and only with the notice described above.
(d) Failed payment. If a renewal charge fails, we will notify you and your benefits will be suspended. If payment is not made within 15 days of notice, the Membership lapses.
7. Cancellation and Refunds
(a) How to cancel. You may cancel at any time by phone at (703) 997-0026, by email to Office@AJLongElectric.com, or by mail to the address in Section 12. Cancellation is effective on receipt.
(b) Before renewal. If you cancel before a renewal charge, no further charges will be made.
(c) During a paid term. If you cancel during a paid term, you will receive a pro-rata refund of that term's fee only if no annual visit has been performed and no member savings or fee waiver has been used during that term. Otherwise the fee for that term is fully earned and non-refundable.
(d) First year bundled with a project. A first-year fee included in a project total is non-refundable once member savings have been applied to that project.
(e) Cancellation by us. We may decline, cancel, or not renew a Membership for abuse of the program, misrepresentation, unsafe conditions at the service address, nonpayment, or because we no longer serve your area. If we cancel for a reason other than your breach, abuse, or nonpayment, we will refund the unused portion of the current term on a pro-rata basis.
8. Workmanship Warranty
(a) Extended warranty while active. While your Membership is active, work performed by AJ Long Electric at the enrolled service address is warranted against defects in workmanship for two years (Essentials), three years (Complete), or five years (Priority) from the date of substantial completion of that work, in place of our standard one-year workmanship warranty.
(b) Effect of lapse. If your Membership lapses or is cancelled, warranty coverage on previously completed work reverts to our standard one-year workmanship warranty measured from that work's completion date, and expires immediately if more than one year has passed.
(c) Materials. Materials and equipment are covered by the manufacturer's warranty only. We make no warranty on materials or equipment beyond passing through the manufacturer's warranty.
(d) Exclusions. This warranty does not cover damage caused by you, other contractors, or third parties; misuse, neglect, or failure to maintain; alterations by anyone other than us; normal wear and tear; acts of God; pre-existing conditions or code violations not part of the work we performed; or failure of equipment we did not install.
(e) Sole remedy. Our sole obligation under this warranty is to repair or replace defective workmanship at no charge. We are not liable for consequential, incidental, or punitive damages, and our total liability for any warranty claim shall not exceed the price of the job giving rise to the claim.
(f) Claims. Warranty claims must be made in writing within the applicable warranty period and within 30 days after you discover, or reasonably should have discovered, the claimed defect.
9. Scheduling and the Member Line
(a) Scheduling priority. Scheduling benefits place you ahead of non-members, and Priority Members ahead of other Members, in our scheduling queue. Stated response times are good-faith estimates, not guarantees, and depend on workload, weather, and conditions beyond our control.
(b) Member line. The dedicated member line (Priority tier) is answered during normal business hours by a licensed electrician. Guidance given by phone is general information based on your description and is not a diagnosis of your electrical system. Any on-site work remains billable at our applicable rates, less member savings.
(c) After-hours service. Membership does not include emergency or after-hours service, which is billed at our applicable rates.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (i) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM, OTHER THAN A WARRANTY CLAIM UNDER SECTION 8, SHALL NOT EXCEED THE MEMBERSHIP FEES YOU PAID IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM; AND (ii) WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, LOST PROFITS, OR LOSS OF USE.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct, or affects your right to make a claim against our insurance, subject to policy terms and limits. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those jurisdictions these limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted.
11. General Terms
(a) One address; transfer. A Membership applies to a single enrolled service address. If you sell the home, the Membership may be transferred to the buyer of that address with our prior written consent. It is otherwise non-transferable.
(b) Program changes. We may modify program benefits effective at renewal, with notice as described in Section 6. We will not materially reduce your benefits during a paid term without your consent.
(c) Governing law and venue. These Terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which the enrolled service address is located (Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia), and any suit shall be brought in the courts of that jurisdiction. Either party may bring an eligible claim in small claims court.
(d) Disputes; attorney fees. Before filing suit, the complaining party shall give the other written notice of the dispute and 30 days to resolve it. In any action to enforce these Terms, the prevailing party is entitled to reasonable attorney fees and costs where permitted by law.
(e) Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the benefits summary provided at enrollment, are the entire agreement regarding the Membership. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. We may assign these Terms to a successor of our business.
