Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2, 2026
Welcome to AJ Long Electric. By accessing this website or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. We have served homeowners and businesses across Northern Virginia since 1996, and these terms explain the basis on which we provide our electrical services. They apply whenever you contact our office, schedule a service, or have work performed at your property.
1. Services
AJ Long Electric provides residential and commercial electrical services. All work is performed by licensed professionals in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the requirements of your local permitting jurisdiction. Where a permit and inspection are required, we coordinate them as part of the job. The scope of any specific project is defined in the written estimate we provide before work begins.
2. Definitions
To keep these terms clear, the table below defines the key words used throughout this document.
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Services | The residential and commercial electrical work AJ Long Electric performs at your property, including diagnostics, repairs, and installations. |
| Estimate | The written quote describing the scope and price of a project, provided before work begins. |
| Workmanship warranty | Our 5-year guarantee covering the labor on installations we perform, separate from any manufacturer's warranty on parts. |
| Service fee | A charge that may apply to a missed appointment or a cancellation made without 24 hours' notice. |
3. Scheduling & Cancellations
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment so we can offer the slot to another customer. Appointments missed without notice may incur a service fee. We confirm appointment windows in advance and will always communicate any fee before it is applied. You can manage an upcoming visit through our scheduling page.
4. Warranties
Labor on electrical installations carries a 5-year workmanship warranty from the date of service. Parts and equipment carry the manufacturer's warranty (typically 5–10 years depending on the product). If something we installed fails due to workmanship within the warranty period, we will return at no charge to repair or replace it. This warranty does not cover damage from misuse, unrelated electrical faults, or modifications made by others after our work is complete.
5. Payment
Payment is due upon completion of services unless prior arrangements have been made. We accept major credit cards, checks, and financing options where approved. Card payments are handled by a PCI-compliant processor; we do not store full card numbers on our own systems. For larger projects, deposit and progress-payment terms are set out in your written estimate.
6. Your Consumer Rights
Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under Virginia and federal consumer-protection law. For general guidance on home-improvement and contractor agreements, you can review the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidance on hiring a contractor or the Virginia Attorney General's Consumer Protection office. How we handle the personal data you share with us is described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Limitation of Liability
AJ Long Electric is responsible for performing the agreed work in a professional, code-compliant manner and for honoring the warranty described above. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses outside the scope of the work performed. Any concern about a completed job should be raised with us promptly so we can address it under warranty.
