It matters for the permit office and the tax exemption, not for the price. The City of Fairfax is an independent city with its own permit checklist and a ten-year solar property tax exemption. Fairfax County issues its own permit, waives the fee, and exempts the equipment for five years. Many homes with a Fairfax mailing address are in the county. We confirm the jurisdiction from your parcel and file with the right office.

Who is my utility, Dominion or NOVEC?

Look at the top of your electric bill. Most Fairfax addresses are Dominion Energy Virginia. NOVEC serves parts of the western county around Centreville, Chantilly, Clifton, and Fairfax Station. Both offer net metering, and we file the interconnection with whichever one serves you.
