SERVICE-AREA FAQ
Common questions about where we work
Which cities does AJ Long Electric serve?
AJ Long Electric serves more than 40 cities across the DMV: 23 cities throughout Northern Virginia (Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Loudoun, Prince William and Manassas Park), 18 cities in Maryland's Montgomery and Prince George's counties, and all of Washington, DC. In total we cover 219 neighborhoods. Browse the city list on this page, or call (703) 997-0026 to confirm your specific address.
Do you serve my city if it is not listed?
Probably yes. The cities on this page are where we work most often, but we route to the entire Washington metro area and regularly take jobs just outside our core list. If you do not see your city, call (703) 997-0026 or request a free estimate and we will confirm coverage for your address, usually within a minute.
Do you charge more for distant service areas?
No. AJ Long Electric does not add trip charges or distance surcharges within our published DMV service area. You get the same upfront, flat-rate pricing whether you are in Fairfax near our headquarters or out in Loudoun, Prince William, Montgomery, or Prince George's County.
Are your electricians licensed in Virginia, Maryland, and DC?
Yes. AJ Long Electric is fully licensed and insured to perform electrical work in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, and we pull permits and schedule inspections in each jurisdiction. Virginia licenses are issued by the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR), Maryland by the State Board of Master Electricians, and DC by the Department of Buildings.
How fast can an electrician reach my area?
For most Northern Virginia cities near our Fairfax headquarters we offer same-day and next-day appointments, with 24/7 emergency dispatch DMV-wide. Maryland and DC response times depend on traffic and scheduling, but emergency calls are always prioritized. Call (703) 997-0026 for the soonest available window in your area.
Do you pull permits and handle local inspections?
Yes. For any work that requires it, AJ Long Electric pulls the permit and coordinates the inspection with your local jurisdiction, whether that is a Virginia county building office, a Maryland county permits office, or the DC Department of Buildings. Code requirements follow the National Electrical Code (NEC) as adopted and amended locally.
Verify our licensing & local permits
AJ Long Electric is licensed and insured in every jurisdiction we serve, and all work follows the National Electrical Code (NEC) as adopted locally. Confirm electrician licensing and permit rules directly with each state or district authority:
